Call Out the REAL Deadbeats

I'm going to stray into the realm of a different kind of corruption today. The subject of mother/father vs. custody & child support. It's yet another subject which people across the planet can relate to. It frustrates me greatly that so many people use the word "deadbeat" so loosely. Miss a payment, you're a deadbeat, says the other parent. Get a new boyfriend/girlfriend, you're a deadbeat, says the other parent. Get a new husband/wife, you will pay dearly through your nose, says the other parent.

Not only does the "other parent" suffer financially, the children suffer greatly also. Newborn babies can sense tension and emotional disarray. Children's intuitive abilities, as such, never go away. How many people do you know, not assume, but truly KNOW that one parent cheated on the other at least once, maybe all through a relationship, filed for divorce, then ran the other parent through the money ringer? Women are stoned to death in other countries for adultery. But, men can cheat, even rape other women and it's looked at in a completely different way. Remember ladies & gentlemen, I despise double standards. How about a happy middle ground?

If a husband or wife is unhappy in a marriage; they have a responsibility to communicate in an adult manner, exactly what their grievance is. Far too often, this never happens. They just look elsewhere to fill the void with someone else. It is sinful to do so in my opinion. If a couple is separated, I think it's appropriate to start dating someone else after a good amount of time following a separation if no other remedies for the marriage are found. However, if someone just takes it upon themselves to sleep with numerous other flings while still living in the same house as the mate they swore loyalty to; they should permanently lose all chance to recover one penny from their spouse. They should be required to keep 50/50 shared custody and zero dollars from their mate. 100% of all child care expenses should be itemized, proven with receipts, and split 50/50. The spouse should further be required to obtain employment if the children are school-aged. Sitting around a house that their ex pays for, watching television, and bad-mouthing their ex all day is not what home-making consists of. From the man or the woman. Alimony/ Palimony should never be permitted, either. Only in instances of infidelity, and only for a maximum term of one year, so the person has opportunity to obtain employment. Marriage is merely viewed as a convenience these days or a way that someone can get rich from the other. If one person fully understands there is an ulterior motive from their spouse prior to getting married and goes ahead with it; only then do they deserve what they get. You reap what you sow. This is true in any area of life.

In the current economic crisis, does it really make sense to enter into the sacred bond of marriage, knowing that your love is not mutual? That your spouse is only with you for your money or your house, etc.? It wouldn't make sense to me in good financial situations. But, everyone has their own opinions. This is just one point of view. I have never claimed to be omnipotent. I will not start today.
